Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., otherwise known as celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, just welcomed a baby boy announced on Feb. 27. Perez posted the wonderful news on his blog at 3:20 p.m. There was no information given regarding date or time of birth, weight, or name of the baby boy other than the blessing came earlier in the month.
In 2011 Hilton spoke to The Advocate about wanting to become a father while he was promoting his first children’s book, “The Boy with Pink Hair.” At the time Perez told The Advocate that he was emotionally ready for a child, but he wasn’t ready time wise. In the rest of the article Hilton talks about how his children will be talented and he will let them know they can write, play an instrument, or cure cancer. When asked about his willingness to find a partner or be a single parent, Perez opened up to say “I don’t think I need a partner, but I‘m open to it…..Should I wait until I have a partner to have one? I just need to do what feels right for me…”
It looks like it finally felt right for Perez. Perez says he is “overjoyed at this newest and most cherished addition” and he is feeling very “humbled.” Sadly, not everyone is overjoyed about the news. On the Huffington Post, readers lash out stating that the “dad is a flaming hot mess” and even the gay community seems to be a split decision with comments like “I am supportive of gay people raising children, but not in this case.”
