A short videoclip, apparently created two weeks ago, is now gathering momentum and making the rounds. The clip shows conservative-favorite African American Florida U.S. Congressman Lt. Col. Allen West responding to a question about Michelle Obama's do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do-and-certainly-not-as-my-own-body-reflects overreach in her taxpayer-funded-personal-P.R. "Let's Move!" campaign (affectionately known here as "Let's Moo!")
In the video, taken at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), a journalist (who seems possibly to be a student journalist) asks Congressman West: "Switching gears a little bit, Michelle Obama is now going into military bases around the country and trying to change the nutrition value of the meals. Do you think that is her place to be doing that?"
Congressman West responds by saying: "Hey, let me tell you something, I was a soldier for 22 years. Let soldiers eat what they want to eat, OK? Don't go telling us what we want to eat."
Commenters at the YouTube location of the video were harsh on Michelle Obama. Among the comments posted were the following:
- "Michelle should worry about her own family's diet and not everybody else. Her youngest child is fat."
- "Yeah, our combat soldiers just don't know what's good for them and should listen to twerp Michelle Obama."
- "WOW sad.. Food vs Smoking she is busy running others lives she can't get her husband to stop smoking"
- "overweight by whose standards? The obesity standards were changed recently, just like most of the things the government wants to control...just change the numbers. "
A videoclip of the question and response can be accessed via this link.
