Last week on Days, Nathan burst through the door of his apartment as a shocked Stephanie looked on in her wedding dress. Nathan confronted Stephanie with knowing about Chloe, Phillip and the baby long before anyone else did. Stephanie lied at first, but finally admitted she’d known Caroline switched the results. She explained that with everything going wrong, she didn’t want to send her grandmother to jail. Nathan said it was more than that and admitted he’d read her email and talked to Ian. Stephanie cried and begged Nathan to stay, but he said they were over and left as Stephanie wailed.
Chad showed up at the DiMera mansion and told Stefano he was staying at Salem University and didn’t want anything to do with the family or their money. He started to leave, but Stefano stopped him and said the reason Chad was upset was because he’d never had a father who cared about him. Chad said, “And I never will” and left the mansion. Stefano looked at a picture of Chad, then called a meeting with EJ and Lexi at the Brady Pub where he broke the news to them about their brother. EJ called Chad a “silly, insolent little brat” and said if he didn’t want anything to do with the family, that was fine with him.
Stefano ran into Chad at the pub later and asked him to join him. Chad refused, but Stefano ordered him to listen to his father. Stefano explained that if he’d known Chad was his won, he never would have abandoned him. Chad said again that he didn’t want his money. Stefano said it wasn’t about money and that he wanted Chad to be part of the family. Chad compared the DiMeras to the Sopranos before leaving. Stefano chuckled and said that Chad was just like EJ.
On the deserted island, Vivian ranted to Gus about seeking revenge on everyone. Vivian noticed a tanker heading toward the island and ordered Gus to make a fire. By the time Gus had started the fire, the tanker was gone. Vivian yelled at Gus, who ordered her to shut up and stay on her part of the island. Vivian wondered why everyone was against her. She fell asleep and had a dream that Brady was trying to seduce her.
Chloe called the movers Daniel had arranged for her and told them not to come because her baby was sleeping. Carly knocked on the door and asked to speak to Daniel. Chloe begged Carly to talk to Daniel about what had happened, but Carly told Chloe she wouldn’t help her anymore and regretted meeting her. Carly accused Chloe of using her to keep things from Daniel. Chloe said she thought they were friends and said Daniel would forgive her eventually. Carly told Chloe to live in the real world. Later, Melanie showed up and asked what Chloe was still doing there. As Melanie yelled at Chloe, she became ill and rushed to the bathroom to throw up. Chloe asked Melanie if she was “late.” Melanie said she wasn’t pregnant but got a worried look in her eye.
Chloe called Melanie to ask if she was pregnant. Melanie said she’d taken a lot of pregnancy tests and they came out negative… meanwhile holding a positive test in her hand. Chloe hung up and theorized than Melanie was lying. Daniel showed up at the apartment and said the movers were ready to move her out. Chloe cried and begged Daniel to forgive her, but he told her goodbye. Chloe took the keys to her new place and told Parker that she’d get his Daddy to love him again.
Nathan went to Maggie to talk to Melanie. He said he and Stephanie were over and told her that Stephanie had known Phillip cheated with Chloe all along and that Caroline switched the results. Melanie wondered why Stephanie would do that. Nathan said she was worried that if Melanie left Phillip, Nathan would go running to Melanie. He said Stephanie had an idea in her head that he’d never stopped loving Melanie and she’d never stopped loving him.
“She’s right, isn’t she?” Nathan asked. Melanie said she couldn’t talk to him about that at the moment, grabbed her purse, and left.
Melanie went to the hospital to tell Daniel she was pregnant. Carly saw her and asked if she was there for Carly’s hearing. Melanie said she wasn’t. Carly said she was done asking Melanie for forgiveness, but she’d never stop hoping for it. Carly said when Melanie became a parent, she’d understand and her priorities would change forever. Melanie’s eyes filled with tears. Carly went to check on Caroline, who joined Kayla in blaming Carly for the entire paternity switch fiasco. Kayla hoped the hearing would go her way and Carly would lose her license to practice medicine. Melanie told Daniel she had something important to tell him, but he got called in to testify.
At the hearing, Lexi explained that she had records from St. Mary’s proving that Dr. Manning had a patient named Dana Scott, an alias for Chloe Jonas, who had privacy concerns for a paternity test. Lexi called Daniel in to testify and asked if Carly Manning had obtained DNA from him under false pretenses. Daniel said he couldn’t say for sure if she had done so. Kayla jumped up and yelled at Daniel, accusing him of lying to protect Carly. Lexi told her to sit down, but Kayla went on to accuse Carly of destroying everyone’s lives. At last, Kayla was silenced and Lexie called Carly to testify. Carly apologized for her actions and swore she regretted lying to Daniel. Lexie found no proof of an ethical violation on Carly’s part and called the case “open and shut.”
Nathan saw Melanie at the hospital talking to Daniel and followed her to the pier. He asked her to talk to him about what was bothering her. Melanie almost fainted but told Nathan it was because she hadn’t eaten that day. As they sat on a bench, Nathan said now that they were both single there was no reason they couldn’t be together. Melanie said there was a reason and told Nathan to take the job at Johns Hopkins and forget about her. Nathan received a text and said Daniel hadn’t incriminated Carly. Melanie wondered why he’d forgiven Carly. She went home and looked at a family planning website, studying her options.
Stephanie came to Maggie’s and banged on the door until Melanie let her in. Stephanie accused Melanie of ruining everything for her, turning Max against her, sleeping with Phillip when she was still trying to work things out with him and now stealing Nathan from her. Melanie said that even if she had gone running to Nathan like Stephanie was so worried about, he shouldn’t have been waiting with open arms because he’d been engaged to Stephanie. Stephanie acknowledged she’d been jealous an insecure, but at least she only wanted one man. Melanie started to leave, but Stephanie grabbed her. Melanie’s papers from the family planning clinic fell to the floor, and Melanie fell down and grabbed her stomach. Meanwhile, Nathan went to the Kiriakis mansion and taunted Phillip about Melanie until Phillip punched him. Nathan said he wouldn’t let Phillip get near Melanie again.
Nicole and EJ prepared to enter into their loveless marriage. As Nicole talked to Johnny, she noticed a white speck in his eye and asked if his eye hurt. She told EJ she was concerned. EJ dismissed her suspicions at first, but decided to take him in to get checked anyway. The doctor examined Johnny and told EJ the cancer had spread to the other eye. When he said Johnny was asking for his Mommy, Nicole said they had to tell Sami. EJ didn’t want to, but Nicole insisted. EJ and Nicole went to Sami and Rafe’s apartment and endured Sami’s endless taunting before Nicole finally told Sami why they were there. Sami and Rafe rushed to the hospital.
Lexi explained that Johnny needed surgery and that Daniel and Carly were the best team for the operation. She said they’d try their best to save Johnny’s eye. Sami broke down in tears and Rafe held her as EJ looked on. Rafe told her to get it together for Johnny’s sake. Rafe, Nicole, EJ and Sami went in to visit Johnny. Will brought Allie to see her brother. Mary brought Sydney and handed her over to a tearful Sami. Allie told Johnny that if he couldn’t see, she’d see for him. Sami and EJ sat with Johnny until he was wheeled off to surgery. As Johnny was taken to the OR, Sami broke down crying and EJ put his arms around her. Sami pulled herself together and they quickly pulled apart.
EJ went to the chapel and prayed about his son. Sami overheard him saying that if God would allow Johnny to keep his sight, he would call a truce with Samantha and let her be a mother to their kids. EJ noticed Sami and asked how long she’d been standing there. She said long enough, then told EJ he could stay if he wanted. Sami delivered a heartfelt prayer and EJ sat next to her. Sami told EJ she was tired of fighting with him and just wanted what was best for their kids. Rafe and Nicole thought Sami and EJ were fighting and rushed to the chapel. EJ got a text saying Johnny was out of surgery. The four of them raced back into the waiting room. Daniel said they were able to save the eye and they’d gotten all the cancer, but they wouldn’t know if Johnny would be able to see until they took the bandages off. Sami immediately asked EJ if he planned to hold up his end of the bargain. Rafe wondered if EJ would kick Nicole to the curb if he and Sami called a truce.
Bo snuck out of the boat to snoop on the warden Jane’s private meeting. As he tried to overhear her, someone knocked him unconscious. Jane tied him to a chair in a basement and taunted him. She was quickly joined by Stefano and it was revealed that he was in on the organ harvesting. The two wondered what to do about Bo. Jane planned to kill Bo and harvest his organs. Stefano called her an idiot and said Hope Brady was her biggest problem and Bo was the only one who could lead her to Hope… but he had to be alive. Stefano left and Bo regained consciousness. Jane taunted Bo and he recognized her voice. Jane reminded him that ex-cops didn’t do well in prison. Lee delivered truth serum to Jane and she injected Bo with it. Meanwhile, Hope began to wonder where he was. She logged into Jane’s email account and realized someone was already logged in.
