Steven Truchon, 36, of Albany, Oregon, pleaded guilty in June to three counts of first-degree sex abuse and first-degree unlawful sexual penetration in connection with his sexual abuse of two children. One of the kids was a young girl under the age of 12. The other child was a teenage boy, younger than 15. Truchon appeared in Linn County Circuit Court on Aug. 20 and heard his sentence. The admitted child molester will be spending more than 37 years behind bars, according to The Gazette-Times.
Truchon knew both of his young victims. He threatened them both with death if they ever told anyone about his abusive ways. Both of the children said that they were “violently forced against their will” to submit to Truchon.
In a videotaped interview with the Albany Police Department, the heroic young female victim said that not only was she threatened to be killed if she ever snitched on Truchon, but that her molester also “threatened to kill her entire family if she told anyone, and that he also said he would ‘cut up” her face and make her ugly if she didn’t obey him.” The young girl also testified to being beaten and forcibly raped over and over by Truchon.
“I would start crying because it really hurt me and try to push him off me.
He would just hit me and smack me,” she said.
A veteran detective with the Albany Police Department, Glenn Fairall, said that he has investigated literally hundreds of child sex crime cases, but said after Truchon’s sentencing that Truchon’s crimes against the children were among the worst he’d ever seen. “These children were not just abused but terrorized,” Fairall said.
Back in May, police received a tip regarding Truchon’s then alleged sexual abuse of the two kids, according to Salem-News. The tipster identified the children and said that the abuse had been going on for about two years.
After interviewing Truchon at his Albany apartment, police took him directly to Linn County Jail. Court papers state that Truchon admitted to several of the child sexual abuse crimes when he was first questioned by police in May, according to The Albany Democrat-Herald. Truchon’s original charges included two counts of first-degree rape, four counts of first-degree sex abuse, four counts of first-degree sodomy, two counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and two counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct.
