Munich-based condom manufacturer R & S has issued a national apology statement after being caught with its “pants down” when it was learned that some of its Vitalis prophylactics were being used to spread anti-immigrant propaganda by Neo Nazi youth,
According to Green Party politician Volker Beck (a vocal opponent of fascism), he and other German lawmakers were sent letters bearing the message “pants down, rubbers on,” from members of the far-right National Democratic Party in protest of the “population change” within the country. The group has called its mailing a “purposely provocative campaign that would likely be beyond the September 22 German elections.”
Beck, however, called it outrageous, and openly demanded that R & S make some amends by donating its profits from the condoms to charity on his Facebook page.
In response, R & S chairman has vowed to give 10,000 condoms to a charitable organization, as well as donate the profit from 5,000 of the customized condoms to an organization working to fight right-wing extremism.
“We very much regret that such a mistake has been made and that our condoms were used in connection with such propaganda,” he stated. “We clearly distance ourselves from the political content and I want to sincerely apologize for the pain it has caused.”
