Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC is proving to be a popular get-away for Charlotte families looking for an easy get-away. The hotel is located just off Bruton Smith Blvd., near the giant Concord Mills Mall.
"It was awesome! The kids had a blast and want to go again already," enthused Charlotte resident Amy Strasser. Strasser brought her two oldest children to the themed resort hotel, which is less than 30 minutes from central Charlotte.
The Great Wolf Lodge is best known for its guests-only indoor water park. The water park features wave pools, body slides, tube slides, a giant "fort" for splashy fun and more. Of note, children are given wristbands, which indicate to the lifeguards their height and eligibility for rides. To ride everything, children must be at least 48" tall. Children 42-48" tall can ride select attractions with a parent, as well.
The hotel also offers nightly story times, scavenger hunts, shopping, spa experiences for children and adult and dining. However, Reena Chow of South Charlotte commented that, "given the amount of reasonably priced restaurants on Concord Mills Blvd., it really isn't necessary to eat at the pricier places inside the resort."
The Chow family visited Great Wolf Lodge in December for only one night, but the family got to swim for two days as the hotel offers water park access on arrival and departure day.
Great Wolf Lodge offers a variety of room and suite options, all decorated to match the lodge theme. Of note, when calling for reservations (866.925.9653) , try offering the code "LOCAL" to the reservation specialist. According to the hotel concierge, occasionally, there are unadvertised, discounted room rates available for residents of Iredell, Cabarus and Mecklenberg County.
