On Sunday, March 17, 2013 the third installment of this year’s Merrimack Music Series took place at the Concord Community Auditorium in Concord, NH. The featured singer / songwriters for this week’s event were Lauren Hurley and Rachel Vogelzang.
Hurley began the day with several of her originals including a favorite of many “Sunday.” Progressing through her set it was easy to become infatuated with her lyrics and the honesties they contain. To mix things up a little Hurley decided to let the audience choose one of the tracks and they chose “Balooga” which they seemed to enjoy every bit of its performance. Hurley’s hour long set was a wonderfully engaging experience that showed off her unique, poetic, songwriting style.
Vogelzang stepped up to the mic next and was impressive as she progressed through a set that took you along an emotional rollercoaster ride. Her songwriting talent was evident with the wonderful original track “Doors.” Vogelzang also showed that she could mix up a cover song and turn it into something new as she did with Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.”
The next installment of the Concord Music Series is scheduled for March 24th from 3:00 to 5:00pm. The performers will be Joel Morse and Friends along with Jordan Terrell-Wysocki Trio. The series is a free to the public and sponsored by Merrimack County Savings Bank Foundations and Endicott Furniture.
