Piney Grove United Methodist Church will host a concert to benefit the Claxton Volunteer Fire Department. The concert will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 7 in the church sanctuary. The address for Piney Grove UMC is 767 County Road 750, Athens, Tennessee.
Funds raised at the concert will go to the general fund of the fire department. Church members hope to raise enough money to purchase a lifesaving AED. Instead of a set ticket prices, a freewill offering will be collected during the concert. This allows anyone who wants to enjoy the concert to do so at a price that is affordable for them. All proceeds will go to the Claxton Fire Department.
An impressive group of local musicians has been lined up for the concert.
- CJ Warren brings a mix of gospel standards and contemporary tunes. CJ is well recognized in McMinn County as a gifted singer, songwriter and composer. His songs and music are enjoyed by all ages.
- Jason Hitt will brings his vocal gift to help the Claxton Volunteer Fire Department. He is a certified lay servant from Mars Hill United Methodist Church in Englewood, Tennessee who readily shares his time and talents.
- Amanda Knight may only be in high school but she is already beginning her music career. Locally recognized as a singer with a powerful voice and big heart. She sings in churches, rodeos and local events.
- Alexandria Crabtree is recognized at the national level. Alexandria has performed flute solos at Arlington National Cemetery, The National Cathedral and at the Lincoln Memorial. She takes the time to play for community events, rodeos, in jails and churches.
Claxton Volunteer Emergency Services has been serving the community since 1992. A fire truck will be on site during the concert and fire fighters will be available. Dress is casual. Saturday, June 7 promises to be a fun evening. Find out more on the website for Piney Grove United Methodist Church.
