On Friday, August 28, Jason Mraz performed at Ironstone Amphitheatre located on a vineyard in a remote area near Yosemite National Park in Murphys, California. Bushwalla hosted the evening and first introduced a young 13-year-old boy who paid tribute to Michael Jackson singing "The Love You Save" and other Jackson hits. Then the supporting act, Raphael Saadiq, formerly of Tony! Toni! Tone!, performed songs from his latest album, The Way I See It.
To introduce Jason Mraz, Bushwalla told the story about first meeting his best friend about 15 years ago in New York where they bonded due to their mutual interests in magic and music. Bushwalla would later join Jason on stage to sing "Ghetto Blaster".
Around 9 pm, Jason Mraz and his band took the stage and opened with his latest single, "Make It Mine", and then Mraz's new unreleased song "Anything You Want" which he wrote with The Wailers. Mraz thanked the crowd for traveling to this remote concert venue which he described as "two hours from anywhere".
For the next 90 minutes, Mraz and his band would the perform 15 songs listed below:
Make It Mine
Anything You Want
Coyotes
Who Needs Shelter
Love For a Child
The Remedy
Summer Breeze
Live High
Not So Usual
Dynamo of Volition
A Beautiful Mess
I'm Yours/Three Little Birds
Encore:
Ghettoblaster (with Bushwalla)
All Night Long
Butterfly
Highlights included the personal "Love for a Child" which Mraz dedicated to all the "crazy mothers" out there; a cover of Seals and Crofts "Summer Breeze" (which he recorded for the Everwood TV soundtrack); and the romantic ballad "A Beautiful Mess" which showcases Mraz's dynamic vocal range.
Crowd favorites include the sexy "Butterfly" from Mraz's latest album and his mega-selling hit "I'm Yours" which keeps making history, now with 71 weeks on the Billboard charts.
Mraz continues to tour the U.S. through October with his final show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
