Taylor Swift is concerned about the coup in Thailand, and it has led her to cancel a sold-out concert slated for June 9. MSN Entertainment shared the details of the decision that will surely leave thousands of fans quite disappointed.
The concert promoter in charge of the event, BEC-Tero, indicated that it was a difficult decision but that the Bangkok concert had been canceled “due to recent events in Thailand.” It seems Taylor Swift was concerned about the coup, and she's not the only performer who has changed or canceled slated appearances in the midst of the nation's strife.
For her part, the singer did acknowledge the concert cancellation via her Twitter page. Taylor Swift simply said, “I'm sending my love to the fans in Thailand. I'm so sad about the concert being canceled." In a matter of hours the tweet had been retweeted more than 19,000 times and favorited more than 17,000 times. Fans are clearly quite disappointed, but it is easy to see why Taylor Swift is concerned about the coup and instability in the area.
Swift's current tour continues, with other appearances slated for Shanghai, Tokyo, Jakarta, Manila, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur just ahead.
