Concept Korea

Designers have begun preparing their Fall/Winter 2014 presentations for the NYFW shows slated to take place the start of next week. Among the designers participating this season is Concept Korea! The design initiative created in South Korea was established with the primary goal of promoting that country’s design talent in the United States. This season marks the organization’s ninth time participating in Mercedes-Benz Fashion week in New York City. Each of the four designers presenting are top style icons of South Korea and making waves here in the States.

Kaal E. Suktae Design Concept:
Modern contemporary brand that pursues structural avant-garde through an analysis of clothing, with chic and elegant tailoring. Designer Suk-Tae Lee provides a handcrafted approach to street fashion and cultural sensitivity

Kaal E. Suktae Fall 2014 Collection Inspiration:
“For Fall 2014, Kaal E. Suktae channels the angst-ridden spirit of the 1990’s. The collection takes a modern approach to grunge with oversized, structural silhouettes. Layers of leather, wool, sateen and velvet in monotonous hues of black, brown, grey and ivory with splashes of emerald green and ink blue redefine the look of grunge.” – Suk-Tae Lee, designer of Kaal E. Suktae

Choiboko Design Concept:
Choiboko considers a social role of fashion with interests in human beings and nature in a philosophical point of view. The inspirations are derived from daily life such as people, society and nature

Choiboko Fall 2014 Collection Inspiration:
“For my Fall 2014 collection I draw inspiration from my distorted memory of a white coat worn by a woman one winter day. Conceptualized through select silhouettes in varying colors, patterns and textures, this collection represents the adaptations of a memory our minds can make when reminiscing on past experiences.” – Choi Bo Ko, designer of Choiboko

Beyond Closet Design Concept:
Beyond Closet presents witty reinterpretation of classical looks and items. Every season, designer Tae Yong Ko proposes distinctive new looks using conceptual graphics, details, and mix-matched colors

Beyond Closet Fall 2014 Collection Inspiration:
“Beyond Closet Fall 2014 draws inspiration from my time in the army. Forget what you know about the rigid soldier. This collection takes a more lax approach, embodying a young soldier on his last leave. Conceptualized through traditional uniform silhouettes in updated camouflage and hip-hop graffiti patterns, the collection purveys a sense of freedom.” – Tae Yong Ko, designer of Beyond Closet

Big Park Design Concept:
Big Park draws inspiration from strong and unique individuals in global neighborhoods. Signature looks such as draped leather jackets are paired with easy daywear dresses in dynamical prints, giving a nod to Park’s namesake line and the ultimate urban wardrobe.

Big Park Fall 2014 Collection Inspiration:
“For my Fall/Winter 2014 Collection, I wanted to paint a romantic moment spent between two loved ones over dinner. The collection takes a literal approach to the scene, incorporating the familiar checked table cloth pattern into simplistic silhouettes, off-set with antiqued hardware.” – Park Youn Soo, designer of Big Park
