Conan O'Brien paying severance for many former employees

Conan O'Brien is staying generous -- even when certain people at NBC are choosing not to be. The former "Tonight Show" host, who is not allowed to return with a show of his own until September, reportedly is paying severance to a number of his stagehands for six weeks out of his own pocket. Why? They were apparently not covered in his departure deal with NBC.

We know already that Conan has a history of generosity with his staff, since he famously paid their salaries during the Hollywood Writers' Strike two years ago. On the other hand, this is an entirely new situation since we know that Conan's new show -- whenever it does make it to air -- won't be happening for at least seven months (ironically the same period of time as his stint on "Tonight"). NBC did hand "The Tonight Show" $12 million to send off its non-Conan employees, but the majority of the money went to producers.

Will Conan appear on a talk show sometime over the next few months? Stay tuned, as I'll have more on his actions as soon as they are available. For now, feel free to just let me know your thoughts with a comment below.
