"Conan" debut ratings trumps both Leno and Letterman - video

Conan O' Brien's debut on TBS last night beat not only that man he briefly replaced, Jay Leno, but also David Letterman.

The comparisons cannot be truly regarded as apple to apple comparisons, since "Conan" starts 30 minutes before "The Tonight Show" and "The Late Show with David Letterman", but still, the numbers looked good.

"Conan" had an estimated  4,155,000 total viewers last night, with the bell-weather 18-49 adult demographic  3,285,000 viewers according to earliest rating estimates.

In the long run, "Conan" is expected to draw only 1 million views every night, which pales in comparison to broadcast shows, but it remains to be seen if the numbers hold against Leno and Letterman.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution quoted Letterman joking about O’Brien last night: “'We gained an hour and they slipped in another talk show,' he said. 'Right now, Conan is about halfway through his first show and there are no signs of foul play yet.'”

Fame is fleeting.   Leno's decline must be an embarrassment to him.   Will Conan O 'Brien sustains his ratings?  Proverbs 18:24 talks about how fickle friends and followers are.  But their is friend who sticks closer than a brother.
