Conair Style360 highlight: Maison De Lacour and Voz presentations (Photos)

Yesterday morning’s Conair Style360 event brought two unique collections to the runway of the Metropolitan Pavilion. Maison De La Cour and VOZ showcased their cold weather-appropriate clothing to a large audience in back-to-back shows. While the themes of these two lines differed greatly, both offered an interesting take on stylish street wear and a few dressier options for Fall/Winter 2013.

If there were any question as to what decade inspired Maison De LaCour’s collection, the loud Icona Pop song Julius LaCour chose to accompany his show said it all: You’re from the 70s, but I’m a 90s b*tch. Indeed, the designer aimed for a luxe take on 90's grunge using Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love as muses. Heavy use of black, red, and white plaid showed up in casual looks across the board, ranging from men’s and women’s plaid blazers and trousers to decorative scarves. Safety pins were everywhere, forming patterns on jackets, scarves, and eye-catching daytime dresses of red and deep navy. A brilliant silver backless gown marked a departure from the line's day looks. To complete their street grunge appeal, models rocked bleached eyebrows and dark lips.

After being transported back to the 90's with Maison De LaCour, the audience was in for another whirlwind journey courtesy of VOZ. For this second show of the day, models sauntered to and fro in artisanal pieces crafted by indigenous Mapuche women from Chile and Argentina. The designs mixed black and gray alpaca wool with earthy shades of brown, olive, and burnt orange reminiscent of a South American landscape. Each piece was hand-dyed, with chevron and native prints gracing cozy yet stylish shawls and dresses. Traditional bolero hats topped models' flowing manes of hair, and looked especially chic paired with voluminous wool ponchos. The VOZ collection is sure to appeal to urban women seeking timeless, earthy additions to their wardrobes this Fall.
