I am excited to have this exclusive interview with fellow examiner, and composer, Alonso Del Arte. He is a fellow Detroiter and a graduate from Wayne State University. He has many talents that I know of and I am glad to share his latest accomplishment.  Alonso shares some exciting news with me in my latest interview. My questions are in bold and Alonso’s answers are in italic.

Where do you live in Detroit and for how long?

I live in Southwest Detroit.  I have lived there for most of the past twenty years.

Can you tell me a little about your background? What is your occupation, training, education?

I am looking for work; I have had a lot of practical on-the-job training at actual jobs. I have a bachelor's in Film Studies, so this means that most likely I'll have to invent my own job, and of course how to fund it.

I know you are also a composer. What is your current project and what makes it special?

My current project is a Horn Concerto in B-flat major that was commissioned by Ray Barnes of Canada through eBay. It is special because it is the first concerto ever commissioned through eBay, or perhaps even the Internet.

And also because it is an attempt to answer the question "How would Anton Bruckner have written a concerto?" Ray is a fan of Bruckner, a phenomenal organist who wrote about a dozen Symphonies and much church music. Surprisingly he wrote no significant music for his favorite instrument.

Do you have anything else in the works?

I actually have another ongoing project. I am working on a Symphony in A minor which has been commissioned by Dr. Bryan K. Ho, M.D.; a young doctor who practices medicine in the Boston area. I shipped him the score of the Symphony a couple of weeks ago, but I have yet to send him the parts. He's certainly been much busier than I have been, so he's been very understanding.
For a future project, I'm hoping that Oprah Winfrey commissions me to write a Symphony in C major dedicated to a friend of hers. Just look up "symphony in c major dedicated" on eBay. That has a much higher price tag, so there's a much more limited clientele

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Anything else I would like to share? I’d like to also mention that Dearborn Music and City Bird have the Tiger Stadium Postcard album for sale. The Stadium Postcard album has music by Detroit composers, including myself. Dearborn Music had the idea to tie it with the Tigers' home opener last Friday. The CD has my String Quartet in A major. And I had a hand in all the other music on the album, to varying degrees, as editor.
