Compose a song inspired by John Lennon and you can win a guitar

The 14th annual John Lennon Songwriting Contest (JLSC), which annually looks for songs inspired by the former Beatle's work, will feature an additional special tribute competition this year in honor of his 70th birthday.

The added contest, which accepts musical entries from all genres "inspired by John's visions of peace, love, political activism and free expression,: will be judged by Yoko Ono. Deadline for entry is Oct. 29. The winner will be announced Nov. 15 with entries judged on originality, melody, composition and lyrics (when applicable).

The grand prize winner will receive a new electric Epiphone "Inspired By" John Lennon Casino guitar (MSRP $1665) and a $125 GHS Strings prize pack. Runner up prizes will include one of two Sibelius and Apple iPod Shuffle prize packs.

All songs in the tribute contest will automatically be entered into the regular JLSC 2010, a separate event, which is already underway. More i
