Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)

Act II Productions of New Jersey’s first production of their inaugural 2014 season will be the very funny The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). It will play May 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 8:00 PM at the Investors Bank Theater in the RoxPAC, 72 Eyland Ave, Succasunna. The production is presented under the auspice of The Roxbury Arts Alliance.

Tickets will be available through: and at the door. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for children, students with ID and Seniors.

The cultural touchstone that is The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) was born when three inspired, charismatic comics (Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield), having honed their pass-the-hat act at Renaissance fairs, premiered their preposterous masterwork at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987. It quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, earning the title of London's second-longest-running comedy after a decade at the Criterion Theatre.

Featured are all 37 of Shakespeare's plays, meant to be performed in 97 minutes, by three actors.

A mix of pratfalls, puns, willful mis-readings of names and dialogue, clunky female impersonations, clean-cut ribaldry, and broad burlesque, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) is a fantasia of zanyenergy in the Monty Python/Mel Brooks “anything-for-a-laugh” vein. The gung-hovitality is impossible to resist. Fast paced, witty, and physical, it's giddy fun for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare(Abridged) is one of the world's most frequently produced plays, and has been translated into dozens of languages.

Act II’s production will feature the talents of local residents Robert Scarpone (of Flanders), Bobby Snyder IV (of Boonton), and Michael J. Tarantella (of Denville). Richard Norman (of Randolph) directs.

The new Act II Productions of New Jersey: a NJ Nonprofit Corporation, plans to offer plays of breathtaking suspense, brilliant wordplay, laugh out loud humor, psychological complexity and sweet harmony. Award-winning, cutting edge dramas, classics, comedies and world premieres will be presented each season. Their mission is to inspire the community through intimate, powerful theater.

Other works under consideration by Act II for production during the 2014 season are The Glass Menagerie, Bram Stoker's Dracula and The Elephant Man.
