Compassionate woman in Fort Worth mistakes sick coyote for puppy

Cheyenne Harboe found what she thought was an abandoned sick puppy behind the Pasados Cafe in north Fort Worth this week and wanted to do the right thing reported Fox4News.

She wrapped the sick little pooch up in a blanket and rushed him over to the Summerfields Animal Hospital. By the time she arrived, she had already named the puppy Taco, after the restaurant where he was found.

" I thought it was a puppy at first. Then I got closer, and he was really skinny, and I thought he was probably sick," stated Cheyenne.

That was until Cheyenne spoke with the examining veterinarian who told her that the very sick little guy was a coyote, and his lack of fear towards humans was most likely because he was too ill to react. It was suspected the little guy may have had rabies.

Animal Control was called, according to state law, and the little coyote was taken away.

The animal was euthanized, and his brain will be tested for the presence of rabies.

Cheyenne did the right thing, but could have put herself in danger. Anyhow, it is sad to know that little Taco couldn't have been rehabilitated and released back into the wild.

Rest in peace Taco.
