Comparing the candidates for Atlanta mayor in 2009

The Mayors Debate
The Mayors Debate
Associated Press

I went to the debates and followed the candidates to see if there were some things being said that would inspire me to go to the poles. I thought about how I had giving up on voting for the President after Bush stole the elections. Then out of nowhere Obama showed up saying things I wanted to hear. I still don’t have a lot of confidence in that position or office but he at least said something I wanted to hear.

Lisa Borders:
Positives- Very well connected in politics and the community. Has a strong tie to Georgia religious circles.
Negatives- Extremely distant not sociable and carries an air of arrogance. Has the ability to make you feel like she just deserves it because she is a Woman and Shirley Franklin was a woman etc. She reminds us of Hillary Clinton and how she felt entitled.

Kasim Reed:
Positives
- He is very in tune with what is needed to rejuvenate the city. Has a great plan to work with the youth and curve future violence. He is aware of the importance of the Arts being apart of Atlanta. He has great political connections and he has a young ambitious feel about him. He also looks like Al Green.
Negatives-Worked with Shirley Franklin on her campaign. He seems to be rehearsed in debates and gives politically correct answers. He doesn’t seem strong enough to fight the powers that be trying to take over Atlanta historic communities.

Tiffany Brown:
Positives- A very strong and intelligent businesswoman with a great vision for the future of the city. She is young and vibrant and has done her homework and research on what could make the city work better.
Negatives-No political connections in the city. Does not have a political bone in her body. She has not gotten out and networked enough to make the right connections for her ideas to ever come into fruition.

Mary Norwood:

Positives- A white woman in an all black Mayoral Race in a city desperate for change and tired of black Mayors who do nothing but get there hair and nails done.
She has political and financial connections all over the city of Atlanta.
Negatives- A true politician who will use every dirty little trick in the book to get you to believe her lies. She can’t look you in the eyes while she is talking to you. She uses old school politics of race and religion to make her a viable candidate if you research her time in office she has done nothing. If you look at the facts after her debates you can see she bluntly lies on other candidates especially Lisa Borders.

Kyle Keyser:
Positives- Has great ideas on how to revitalize the clubs in Atlanta and Buckhead. He is a gay white male in a city where homosexuals rule.
Negatives- Who? Nobody knows who the hell he is.

Jesse Spikes:

Positives- He is a very intelligent businessman and lawyer. He understands what is needed to get the city revitalized financially and can articulate it better that any candidate. He is not a seasoned politician who just says the correct answer to make you smile. He has sound and solid ideas and solutions that could work well for the city.
Negatives- Who?  He spent too much time talking about his opponents and not enough time letting people get to know him as a candidate. He missed the memo that “no publicity is bad publicity”. I am sure Kasim will do well from his negative promotions of him.

I have decided not to endorse any candidate. I will say that my vote will be cast for Jesse Spikes or Kasim Reed. You should make your own decisions based off your own research not off someone else viewpoint. Until truth prevails my eyes will be watching
