Here's the promotional photo HomeAway put together to announce the Superbowl ad. Fun.
We're big fans of Chevy Chase here at the Comedy Examiner's Office, so it's been an awesome experience to watch him regaining some of his footing (read: respect) as a comedic actor on NBC's "Community" (now if only more of you were watching it). Now, news has arrived that Chase will reprise his most famous role-- that of Clark Griswold from the "Vacation" movies-- for a Superbowl ad. Read on for the details, my gentle Examiner readers...
Yes, Chevy Chase is making a return to his most famous comedic role-- Clark Griswold, he of the eternally-doomed "Vacations"-- for a Superbowl ad. His wife in the films, Beverly D'Angelo, is said to have a part, as well. Here's the scoop:
Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo -- who played the calamity-magnet parents in National Lampoon's Vacation and three sequels -- will reprise their roles in a new ad campaign to be launched during the Feb. 7 2010 Superbowl.
The advertised service in the homage to the 1983 original (about a madcap American roadtrip)? HomeAway vacation rentals, naturally!
"To this day, people ask me, 'When is the next Vacation movie?" says Chase, currently starring in NBC's Community. "So I'm sure everyone will get a kick out of seeing the Griswolds and their misadventures once again."
That's from an US Magazine article on the subject. We're looking forward to whatever HomeAway comes up with for their ad (and, considering the price-per-second for Superbowl ads, let's hope for their sake that it's funny) and will keep Comedy Examiner readers updated with new news on the ad as it becomes available. Stay tuned for more, folks!
And, while you're waiting on that, check out these other recent Comedy Examiner articles right now:
"Steven Spielberg, Stephen King teaming up to bring dark comedy/horror "Under The Dome" to TV"-- in which we look at the pairing-up of Spielberg and King for the adaptation of King's new darkly humorous horror novel. Here's hoping it's one of the "good" King adaptations, huh?
"Jackass" set to earn another sequel with "Jackass 3D" (with video)"-- in which we look at the news that MTV's comedy "Jackass" has spawned an all-new sequel, this one set to appear in 3 dimensions. Oh, boy.
"Sarah Palin Fever grips America, and "The Daily Show" responds (with video)"-- in which we look at how Comedy Central's fake news show is feeling about Palin's popularity. Check it out, suckers!
"Wanna know what happens on the last 3 episodes of "The Office"? Sure ya do"-- in which we find out what's going down in Scranton on the final episodes of this season of "The Office". Spoilers, kinda!
