The Nacogdoches Community Band recently held their 3rd annual informational meeting, with several new band members attending. The group is excited to welcome new musicians to the band. The band will have their first regular rehearsal of this season on September 8 in the SFA Band Hall (Room 121) and there is still plenty of time to get involved. The band is especially seeking percussionists and flutes for this year.
The Nacogdoches Community Band provides an opportunity to practice and perform with a concert band. Musical performance offers many benefits as part of an educational program and is a great life-long hobby for adults, as well. Local adults are invited to join the band. Even if you have not played in several years, it will all come back and you'll have a great time! This is a non-competitive, non-marching group of friends and participation in the band is free (occasionally donations are accepted to help pay for refreshments or supplies).
Younger musicians (13+) are also welcome, whether from local school districts or homeschools. Younger musicians should have been playing at least a year and be able to play reasonably well. They must be mature enough to understand the need for frequent practice at home and be able to participate appropriately with a group of adults.
