An unusual East Coast culinary nibble to enjoy:
“Once a beacon of change, a cafe struggles to stay afloat,” the New York Times headlined a story on March 16 this year.
Vox Pop, the coffee shop-and-bookstore at 1022 Cortelyou Road, credited with kindling the social scene in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn, had had its food-and-beverage operation shut down. The reason? Huge debt, including $29,000 in unpaid fines.
But, it turns out, fans rallied. Communal capitalism has come to the rescue, CNN's Allan Chernoff reports in this video:
