Lt. Governor Dan Forest has been looking in depth the Common Core. Now lawmakers in Florida too are questioning the Common Core. A bill has been introduced in Florida that wants to stop further implementation of the standards in Florida. The Florida Senate Bill 1316 was just introduced and will be discussed in Florida. The purpose of the bill is stated : " Public School Curricular Standards and Assessments; Prohibiting the State Board of Education from continuing to implement the common core standards until certain requirements are met; providing requirements for the adoption or revision of curricular standards; requiring the state to withdraw from the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers; prohibiting the state from implementing assessments aligned to common core standards by the partnership, etc."
Therefore lawmakers in Florida too are questioning the one size fits all standards set by the Common Core in the United States. Florida State Senator Greg Evers is trying to challenge the Common Core in Florida. This concern in Florida has spread to the regional news . So a major issue in Raleigh and now in Florida is the Common Core Educational Standards. Lawmakers in both North Carolina and Florida are concerned with these standards.
