Next week the Bay Area and the nation will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 21. In advance of the official holiday, Stanford University and the Martin Luther King Research and Education Institute have planned a special event and presentation. The event, "Martin's Dream in the Tapestry of History," will be held at Stanford this Tuesday, January 15. Clayborne Carson, Stanford professor, director of the King Institute, and editor of the MLK papers series, will host the event along with Clarence B. Jones, former advisor to friend to King and a scholar in residence at the King Institute.
The event will feature a multi-media performance utilizing local singers, actors and dancers, and present a dramatic version of King's "I have a dream" speech. This now-famous speech was given during the Match on Washington in August 1963, nearly 50 years ago.
