In Commander 2013, we'll be seeing a cycle of Curses, the enchant player Auras that debuted in Innistrad block and that represent interesting multiplayer decisions - since you're choosing a single player to hose, who will that enemy be? On Magic's official Instagram account, we just got a picture of the white entry in the cycle, which, unsurprisingly, is lifegain. Meet Curse of the Forsaken:
Curse of the Forsaken 2W
Enchantment - Aura Curse (Uncommon)
Whenever a creature attacks enchanted player, its controller gains 1 life.
"Purge the damned, for they have no place among the righteous!" - Seeta of Thraben
One life per creature swinging isn't exactly a massive bonus - this won't turn games around like some of the other Curses in the set can - but it's still deceptively powerful. This has the potential to bring one or more players with low life totals back from near-death, and is a hell of a way to speed up a win in Felidar Sovereign or Test of Endurance decks. In decks that run Righteous Cause, it's pretty good as a smaller, cheaper, one-sided version of that enchantment. And in a token swarm deck it's a quick ticket to an unassailable life total.
What do you think of Commander 2013's final Curse? Let me know in the comments.
