'Man of Steel' coming to theaters in June

Based on the DC character, “Superman,” the “Man of Steel” superhero film comes along at a time when comic book superheroes are highly marketable. If the reboot of “Superman” proves successful, this one could be a record breaker.

Fans of DC and Marvel comics wait patiently for Hollywood taletellers to fulfill their highest whims when it comes to superhero films. Each successful movie produces a higher expectation for the next comic book characterization film to beat out the story, graphics and sound of the first. The new “Man of Steel” has a lot to bring to the table.

We all know how the story goes. Clark Kent is an alien who is adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent. His parents had sent him to Earth to be reared after their planet, Krypton, was dying.

Kent soon learns that he is no ordinary boy. He has super powers and feels alienated (no pun intended). Kent goes through his childhood with the knowledge that he does have to control the super powers he is blessed with. Once the planet Earth is attacked, he is the superhero who saves it.

Henry Cavill will play Clark Kent (Superman). Kevin Costner takes on the role of Jonathan Kent, who introduces Clark to his secret past. Russell Crowe is Jor-El and Amy Adams takes on the role of Clark’s love, Lois Lane.

“Man of Steel” is coming to theaters on June 14, 2013.

I have been a film critic for years. As a writer, I love to experience the writer's art as it comes alive on the screen.
