Comic store opening in Petaluma

Just mentioning Alcatraz at Brian’s Comics, a new comic book store opening in downtown Petaluma, will likely garner a smile from owner Brian Christensen who worked on the island for 3-1/2 years with audio tour staff.

"For all fankind" he will now be selling everything from Marvel and DC favorites to Star Wars editions. He said eventually Escape From Alcatraz comics will hit the shelves as well.

Christensen, 40, began collecting in 1976 and now possesses more than 700 comics. “I recommend Saga, a sci-fi fantasy book for anyone who has never picked up a comic,” he said. “It’s probably the best thing on the market right now.”

He also has limited edition Marvel inspired 2012 campaign t-shirts available for purchase while supplies last.

Brian’s Comics will open Friday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. The store is located at 1 Fourth Street, Suite B in the basement of the McNear Building.
