Comic-Con 2012 helpful hints and tips for online badge registration

It's no secret that each year the San Diego Comic-Con sells out the moment the tickets go on sale. At the 2011 Comic-Con, a lot of attendees purchased their 2012 badge in advance so that way they didn't have to worry about going through the hassle of getting one around this time of year. They still had to make a Membership ID, though.

Well now it's getting close to the time that thousands of people will be racing to purchase their tickets first. They have been known to sell out in record times, which is why it can be stressful. This year is no different. Many changes have been made to the way of purchasing your Comic-Con passes, but if you don't know how things work now, then you won't be one of the lucky ones that will be going to San Diego this summer.

Here is a list of things you need to know in order to successfully purchase a Comic-Con 2012 pass.

  • Prices: Every year prices go up, this year is no different. Unfortunately, along with them going up, they have also taken away the discount of purchasing all four days of the event at once. This was done in hopes of fans not purchasing a four day badge, and only utilizing it one or two times. We'll see if this actually makes a difference.
    Prices are as follows:

  • Member ID: The first step to purchasing a pass is registering for a Member ID. This is the first year they're implementing this rule, it is being done in the hopes of a smoother purchasing process. NOTE: If you don't register for a Member ID by February 28th, then you will not be able to purchase a Comic-Con 2012 pass!
  • Buying your tickets: Comic-Con is still using EPIC, and the only way to access the room is by logging in with your Member ID account. Once you're redirected to the EPIC site, like last year, you will be placed in a waiting room. Once it's your turn, assuming they haven't sold out, you will be able to purchase your pass.

This is a first come, first served process. That means you could be waiting as long as three to four hours, according to the official site. As as member, you will be getting an email with the time and day that the passes go on sale, this way you can plan ahead.

Each attendees will be allowed to purchase up to six tickets. This is great for those who are going in groups. Each person in your group can log in and the person with the smallest number can be the one who purchases the passes. Just know that after the waiting room hits 60,000 people, it will automatically lock people out. This is to be sure that the EPIC site doesn't crashes. At this point, attendees should just keep trying to get in the room because as people leave, more people will be allowed in. More helpful information can be found here.
