On July 11, Comic-Con 2012 episode number 43 began two hours south of Los Angeles in San Diego with all sorts of visitors drawing on their favorite super heroes and other imaginary characters to properly herald the four-day ode to all things pop culture.
There were no lack of super heroes of all description who had joined the ranks outside the San Diego Convention Center as Comic-Con enthusiasts inside were able to collect all manner of swag during the official preview night.
The 43rd annual Comic-Con International convention starts in earnest today, June 12, but that didn't stop throngs of geeks in outrageous get-ups from finding their way to downtown San Diego. Hundreds were on hand to launch the festivities in style one day before the official start to this long-awaited event.
Indeed, nothing was more colorful than the fans themselves who were happy to flaunt their inner pop culture characters, many having camped out adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center for a chance to get to the head of the long line before anyone else could beat them to it.
Even so, there's no doubt that line will grow as Thursday brings presentations directed at the last film of the "Twilight" franchise as well as one centered around the book sensation by EL James called "Fifty Shades of Grey."
That said, enjoy all the characters who crashed Comic-Con 2012 early in a pop culture explosion of epic proportions (as proven in the slideshow above) and remember that the fun and fanaticism continues through Sunday in creative ways that belong to those who are lucky enough to attention this sensational annual gathering in California's second largest city.
