Well the reign of David Zavimbe as Batwing comes to climatic end in Batwing # 19. As an African Police officer David was the only foreign member of the Batman family to get his own ongoing title. Now after 19 pulse pounding issues and avenging the death of Matu Ba, his version of the Dark Knight's "Alfred" David has decided to pass the mantle of Batwing to the newest member of the Dark Knight's army of crime fighters.
One whose youth and intelligence will serve him well in the many conflicts to come. He's also no stranger to the world of Gotham's Guardian., his father has created many of the tools for the entire cadre of Night fighters. Lucius Fox has been one of Batman greatest allies in both his professional life as Bruce Wayne and private life of Batman.
So it seems only fitting that his son become a living weapon in the fight against crime under the command of his friend , and employer. Luke Fox has all the skills and talent needed for the job and was actually the first choice to don the Batwing costume. Fate had other plans, though it seems that its now correcting itself and placing a new costume on the latest warrior against evil.
Luke has been tournament fighting since he was sixteen despite his father's disapproval and attending MIT. Besides courage, brains and brawn are always the basic requirements for member of Batman Inc. , Luke has tons of all three.
Unknown to his father Luke always wanted to be a member of Batman Inc. and now the time has come.
Like all members of Batman Inc. Luke's costume has been outfitted with the latest technological advances in crime fighting to enhance his already formidable skills. It's bulletproof body armor, has limited invisibility in low light areas, has a retractable cape which enables him to glide on air currents and its interior is covered with sensors that monitor his vital signs. It can temporarily repair injuries like broken limb and administer anesthesia when and where necessary.
It can even harden around the damaged limb forming a cast to hold the bone in place. Another thing that's sure to make this incarnation of Batwing even more action packed is the fact that Luke is an adrenalin junkie that's always itching for some action so he'll be a "punch first ask questions later" type of hero which make for a constantly exciting magazine.
Let's not forget the disapproving father drama that makes for excellent pathos amidst the non-stop action as well.
