Comic book films highlight nomination listings in People's Choice Awards

The 2012 nominees for the People's Choice Awards are out, and one category expands into unprecedent regards off the given roster of last summer's superhero films.

Staple categories the likes of Favorite Action Movie or Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy nominees repeat with comic book adaptations. "Iron Man 2" won over "Kick Ass", taking Favorite Action Movie of 2011 in a category that was enumerating "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time", "Salt" and "Robin Hood".

This year the thunderous blockbuster "Thor" and retro "X-Men: First Class" contend for 2012s Favorite Action Movie bid up against "Fast Five", "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" and "Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon".

One must-see nomination category has been Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy. Strong audience draws have been past winners, namely 2011s "Fringe" and '10s winner "Supernatural". This year AMC's runaway hit series "The Walking Dead" squares off in this too close to call category that involves rating leaders "Vampire Diaries", and "True Blood" where past title holders "Fringe" and "Supernatural" could two-peat.

The biggest nominee pool to date for Favorite Movie Superhero encompasses those selects not just those few that hit theaters. The totals were larger over 2011 and while respectable hit movies such as "Cowboys & Aliens" or "Green Hornet" with celebs like Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde or Seth Rogen aren't in nomination, still this category will put all eyes on what actor summon up their heroic semblances and muscle their superpowers into believable likeness to account as the movie fans' favorite.

"Captain America: First Avenger" has its star Chris Evans in the running. James McAvoy makes a prequel Professor-X as coolly relavent and innately imposing as Patrick Stewart's mutant Headmaster of Xavier's School for the Gifted, so gaining his nomination. "X-Men: First Class" adds one more to this list and ladies we're sure you'll agree that Rebecca Romjin's deadly shapeshifter would indeed have awesomely scribed origins as given by Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique.

The category goes galactic with "Green Lantern" completing Favorite Movie Superhero, its star Ryan Reynolds up for the nom.

These super sci-fi nominations go for the win on the People's Choice Awards, which airs on Jan. 12, in 2012.
