Stephen Merchant (Golden Globe winner as writer-executive producer of “The Office UK” and HBO’s “Extras”) debuts in his first lead role in the comedy which is sometimes awkward and uncomfortable but does provide some laugh-out-loud moments.
Stuart (Merchant) searches for the woman of his dreams amidst the dazzling nightlife of Los Angeles. He is a financially secure man with a good career and a nice car, but he has romantic aspirations that far exceed his looks or appeal. Stuart is tall (6'7") import from the UK who works as a web designer. He sees himself as a ladies man, but the ladies do not agree, snubbing him at every turn.
The awkward would-be ladies man enjoys camaraderie with his female tenant/roommate Jessica (Christine Woods -“Go On,” “Perfect Couples”) an unsuccessful actress with a web series who has an unstable relationship with her caddish Hollywood handsome agent. Stuart hangs around with Wade (Nate Torrence -“Get Smart,” “She’s Out of My League”), pining for his wife who has dumped him. Kives (Kevin Weisman -“Alias”) is in a wheelchair but he uses disability to pick up women, a source of some uncomfortable humor. Guests on the show include Crista Flanagan, Jenny Slate, Sean Wing and Sarah Wright.
