Jan. 9 Saginaw, Mich. welcomed comedian Pauly Shore to the Temple Theater. Shore was the star in the popular 90s films “Son-in-Law,” “In the Army Now,” and “Jury Duty.” Pauly costarred in “Encino Man” with Sean Astin and in “Bio-Dome” with Stephen Baldwin. Pauly is recognized for the characters he plays; Bones, Crawl, Stoney and "The Weasel." Shore got his big start on MTV as their video DJ before he landed his own MTV special, “Totally Pauly,” which ran from 1990-1995.
Nowadays, Shore, 44, is a traveling comic promoting his new special, “Pauly-tics.” In the show, there isn't much of a glimpse into “The Weasel.” There was no “munching on some serious grindage buddy.” There was no "squeezing of the juice." But, he was sure to please fans with an autobiographical comedy account of his life.
The Temple Theater in Saginaw, Mich. holds the Saginaw Comedy Club, the room where Pauly Shore performed his sold out show. Upon arriving, fans could instantly see why the show was sold out. The fans weren't the only ones noticing. The moment Shore took the stage his comments left the audience in an uproar.
“What the f@ck is this Saginaw? A broom closet? They put us in a god d@mn broom closet.”
Throughout the night he would tell the audience the “walls were closing in” on him as well as reference the room as a “library.”
When asked why he’s not in movies anymore, Shore replied that it was the fans fault.
“It’s you people. You stopped coming to my movies. You stopped coming to my shows. Then, Adam Sandler took over. He was number one. I was nobody. It was your fault,” he replied in between bouts of laughter.
After the show, Shore was kind enough to come downstairs, despite the pain from a slip and fall adding to an already bad back. Pauly pushed through to sign autographs and take photos. Like many other artists, Pauly is also selling his merchandise to his fans directly from his website. Fans can purchase the “Pauly-tics” special for $5.
When asked why he’s selling directly to fans instead of having a DVD to purchase at a show, his reply was simple, “You got to use what is available to you.”
Indeed Pauly Shore, indeed. Sound off in the comments below.
