Comedian Pam Ann Makes Landing in NY with Airline Humor

Australian comedian Pam Ann lands in New York tonight for eight performances, scattered into the new year.

If you wonder who she is, well she's likely the first comedian with her own app! She also has made a career of poking fun at airline news and sometimes disasters and has a following of flight attendants who she often makes fun of right in the theatre, even pitting them against each other as she points of shortcomings of one airline over another.

Pam Ann plays Dec. 6 and 7 at the XL Nightclub's cabaret in a show entitled "Hoe Hoe Hoe." But we all know, when she's on stage, she is the only "Ho" that reigns.

After a holiday break, she returns to New York at Joe's Pub Dec. 30, 2013-Jan. 5, 2014 in her "Galactic 2014" show.

I had the privilege of speaking to Pam Ann earlier this year.

She's as much a hoot off stage as she is on. Always "on" Pam Ann had me in stitches as she told of her meager beginnings.

"My act was born out of a vodka bottle," she jokes, telling of a dress up party she was having and suddenly humorous situations and stories came pouring out of her mouth. First, she captivated everyone at the party and before long she was on stage, wowing people throughout the world.

Pam Ann says she feels very fortunate they people want to see her perform and even more delighted that she's especially popular with gays and trannies. Not only because a lot of her friends are part of the GLBT community, but she feels she's "modeled her character after a 1960s set setting drag queen."

Jet setting is just what she does all over the stage. Making tongue and cheek remarks at the many mishaps that happen on airlines, Pam Ann has made a name for herself by parlaying this into a successful act and is one of the original YouTube sensations.

She has a large following and she doesn't stick with a script and "you can see a different show every night" as she practically wings it on stage at every performance. "I feed off the audience and do my best work from my imagination," she says.

The XL Nightclub, for Dec. 6-7, is at 512 W. 42nd Street with "boarding time" of 7pm and show at 8pm.You can get "coach" tickets for as little as $30 and VIP Supersonic Class for $95, which includes the best table, complimentary champagne and a meet and greet.

Joe's Pub dates of Dec. 30-Jan. 5 are $30 with New Year's Eve $50. Joe's Pub is at 425 Lafayette Street. Show times vary so check website for full details.
