Comedian John Pinette, 50, has died of a pulmonary embolism. He was found in his hotel room in Pittsburgh at 2:30 p.m. today.

John Pinette died on April 6, according to a report from TMZ. The successful comedian may be best known for his Chinese buffet stand-up comedy routine. Pinette, who guest-starred on the final episode of the sitcom “Seinfeld” as the “guy who gets mugged”, had checked into rehab last year for prescription drug addiction. According to his manager the prescription drugs did not play a part in Pinette's death. John Pinette suffered from liver and heart disease and no autopsy will be performed.

There has been no update to John Pinette’s website or John Pinett's official Facebook page. The last post on Pinette’s Facebook page was on Friday, April 4 wishing fans a Happy Friday. The post reminded fans that he would be at the Ontario Improv Comedy Club next week.

John Pinette, who turned 50 on March 23, had successfully lost over 200 pounds by eating less and exercising. Pinette also had surgery to remove the loose skin after the weight loss.
