Joan Rivers is known for her many comedic talents including co-hosting “Fashion Police” which aired on E!. Rivers is also known for starting controversy and being, what most people would refer to as being politically incorrect. In spite of that, she was loved by many. Joan Rivers underwent surgery in New York City when she went into cardiac arrest during throat surgery.

TMZ reported that her daughter, Melissa Rivers, took her off life support so that she could pass away comfortably in a private room. Melissa Rivers recently announced that she has died. ABC News reported the statement issued by Melissa Rivers: “It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers.

She passed peacefully at 1:17 p.m. surrounded by family and close friends.” CBS News reported that the New York State health department has begun to investigate the circumstances that led to River’s cardiac arrest while undergoing an outpatient procedure. Rivers was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 8, 1933. She attended Bernard College and graduate Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in English Literature.
