Dave Chappelle fans have eagerly been waiting for the comedian’s return since he walked away from “Chappelle’s Show” in 2005 at the height of his popularity. In light of his recent three-night appearance at New York’s Comedy Cellar, the time for a Dave Chappelle/Chris Rock tour may be imminent according to MSN Now on March 13.
The chain-smoking Chappelle shared the New York stage at various times with friends Chris Rock, Marlon Wayans, Kevin Hart and Paul Mooney. Following is part of the onstage conversation that took place between Chappelle and Rock as they entertained the captivated audience:
"Come out to Oakland," Chappelle told Rock.
"You should come down to West Palm," Rock replied.
"After next Tuesday, I'm free for like 11 years," Chappelle said.
Referring to a new movie he’ll be filming Rock said, "I've got time between now and the movie … By Halloween, I could do dates."
Since leaving “Chappelle’s Show,” the comedian has distanced himself from the spotlight for the most part, living on his Ohio farm, surfacing for an occasional comedy show here and there.
When Chappelle’s rep was asked about the possibility of a Chappelle/Rock tour, his not so helpful answer was “I can’t even say.” Fans can hope as that was definitely not a no.
