From Stand- up comedian to television sitcom star to box-office leading funny man, Cedric the Entertainer is now throwing his hat in the ring as the newest game show host on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”.
The game show first originated in the UK and quickly gained popularity within other countries that took on the concept and format of the game show and added slight changes to fit their specific audiences over the years.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is seen in over a hundred countries around the world. Here in the United States the show has undergone a few changes over the years with host coming and going. The game show first hit the air back on August 16, 1999 and it was hosted by Regis Philbin. Philbin ended his run as host in June of 2002, then the show went into syndication in September of 2002 and it was hosted by Former news anchor Meredith Vieira who hosted the game show for 11 seasons.
This September of 2013 “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” got a stylish upgrade, look and rhythm with the funny and talented new host Cedric the Entertainer.
To date “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” has won seven Day Time EMMY Awards and TV Guide along with The Game Show Network known as GSN have ranked Millionaire at #5 out of 50 on the list of Greatest Game shows of all time.
