April 5 -Six Flags America’s Opening Day. It’s a party every day at Six Flags America as we kick off the 2014 season on Saturday, April 5! Beat back the winter blues and come out to celebrate with the opening of the new Mardi Gras section and French Quarter Flyers, a high-flying ride with speeds up to 40 miles-per-hour.
April 5 -Pet First Aid Training and Certification. Dogwood Acres is hosting two Pet First Aid Training and Certification Classes on Saturday April 5th from 8-11am or 12-3pm. Approximately a 3 hour course designed to instruct students in the necessary steps to save a pet’s life during an emergency or to minimize a pet’s trauma after an injury. $50 for a two year certification.
April 9 - May 30Homeschool Kung Fu Class. These low-cost and fun classes at Jing Ying Institute are a great way for homeschoolers to get in their PE/fitness time while learning important skills. Improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and endurance while learning effective self-defense techniques in a non-aggressive environment. These classes are for homeschoolers ages 5 to adult. Registration required.
April 5 -Past Tense @ Union Jack's. Do you want to dance and sing along with every song the band plays? Looking for a great band that plays the hits you have to crank every time you hear them on the radio, then come and see Edgewater's own PAST TENSE! $5 cover.
April 7 - Brent Peterson Acoustic Live at The Federal House Bar and Grille!. With musical leanings raging from reggae and rock to country and funk, the band successfully straddles multiple genres without losing sight of its acoustic rock beginnings. Free.
April 4 - April 5 - 9 to 5: The Musical. Don’t miss Southern High School's Drama Company’s performance of 9 to 5: The Musical, “a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era”. Friday, April 4 at 7:00 and Saturday,April 5 at 2:00 & 7:00. $5 students, $8 adults.
April 3 - April 19 - Colonial Players presents 'Bat Boy: The Musical'. This off-beat musical is a mix of gothic horror and big-hearted satire of small town personalities set to a peppy, melodic, pop rock score. The musical is a hilarious send-up of traditional musicals and all the love-overcomes-all themes you've ever witnessed in theater or the movies. Adults, $20. Student/Senior/Military, $15.
May 15- Zoofari at The National Zoo in Washington, DC. ZooFari brings more than 100 of the area's finest restaurants to fill the Zoo for a delicious evening of gourmet food, fine wines, and conservation! Top chefs will be joining the festivities, and doing battle in a grill off. And don't miss out on the ZooFari auction, where guests can bid on exclusive Zoo tours and more!
