Come listen to stories by a Dakota elder!

Dakota Elder Carrie Schommer will be telling stories in Dakota and English on this Saturday morning, February 4, at the Blue Earth County Historical Society.

The free event is part of a year-long project by the historic society regarding Dakota history.

Organizers say:
Carrie is a wonderful Dakota grandma who worked with the Minneapolis School District for many years and has now "retired" to Granite Falls where she works with the youth there.  She is a wonderful storyteller and great with people of all ages.  Carrie is looking forward to sharing Dakota stories with local children.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon in the lower level of the Heritage Center at 415 Cherry Street in Mankato.  There will be refreshments served.  There is no cost for this event.
