Don your best green attire and come celebrate all things Irish at the 34th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival in beautiful San Diego, CA. On March 15, 2014, thousands of spectators will flock to Balboa Park to enjoy the Irish Festival and cheer on parade participants.
The parade kicks off at 10:30am with marching bands, local community groups and leaders, law enforcement agencies, firemen, horses, floats, clowns, Scout Troops, dancing groups, classic cars, drill teams, bagpipers, and more parading down 5th and 6th Avenues (between Juniper and Upas). This year's parade theme is "Celebrating People in Public Service."
After the parade, visit the family-friendly Irish Festival in Balboa Park. The festival grounds open at 9am with food and drink, craft booths, a Kids Zone with rides, a Smiling Irishman contest, and live entertainment on two stages from 11am to 5:30pm. There will also be a Celtic Village featured with authentic Irish song and dance, fighting demonstrations, and storytelling.
The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival is one of the largest single-day events in San Diego and everyone comes out to celebrate. Bring a chair, a picnic basket and claim your spot along the parade route to enjoy a fun-filled day.
The parade route starts at 6th Avenue and Juniper. The Irish Festival will be near the parade's end at 6th Avenue and Laurel Street. Admission to both the parade and festival are free.
