What did you do this weekend? Maybe spend time in the garden, painting the fence, cleaning out the garage. Or just take a lazy weekend and enjoy the fabulous weather. Comcast/NBC had a day of giving back to the communities in their areas. This was the 13th season for giving back. Comcast Spotlight Division in Englewood, Colorado had 144 volunteers spend a Saturday morning giving back to the community. The Comcast Spotlight Team enjoyed a day with the people of the Girls Incorporated of Metro Denver in Denver, Colorado. Together they made the club a nicer place for the ladies to enjoy all their activities.
With 144 volunteers, the Comcast Spotlight Team spruced up the gymnasium. They had a group do some painting, sweeping the floor, blowing up the balls. While doing this a group was cleaning up the activity area. Moving outside, the Comcast Spotlight Team were seen pulling weeds, re doing the mulch around the building, repairing furniture and taking care of a playground. Moving across the street to the other building the library was getting an overhaul. The locker rooms were having a new shine put on them.
With painting, cleaning, weeding, re mulching, and even cleaning up the vans and shuttles the Girls Incorporated of Metro Denver has to take the ladies not only places in Colorado but all over the U.S.
The Comcast Spotlight Team does not stop there. They were on hand to help families that are in need of internet service for the children in school. School work cannot really be performed anymore with just the text books and library research. The schools now days have homework that requires going on line and researching. You even have to download your work to prove you were doing the actual work. You have to provide the URL’s that you got the research from.
The overall day had a building that looked brand new after the Comcast Spotlight Team was finished. With all of management rolling up their sleeves and working alongside their employees no one was superior that day. Well not on the Comcast side. But the ladies of Girls Incorporated of Metro Denver were superior that day. But they even brought out some of their staff and young ladies who benefit from the program. Yes everybody rolled up their sleeves, put on gloves and not one word of not wanting to be there was heard. It was a day of get the work done and still have fun. The reward was seeing a building at the end of the day looking fantastic.
