Comcast Business: How ‘Bring Your Own Device’ can make employees more productive

Technology in the workplace is constantly changing, whether through upgrades or new trends. This month, Comcast Business highlights the growing popularity of Bring Your Own Device/Bring Your Own Application (BYOD/BYOA). With BYOD/BYOA, employees use tools they already own or have access to to boost their own productivity.

BYOD is a growing trend in nearly all industries, with market researchers predicting four in 10 businesses will rely exclusively on BYOD by 2016. Small and medium-sized businesses remain at the forefront, with 62 percent implementing an official BYOD policy in 2013.

The BYOD concept offers several benefits to SMBs, from saving money to increasing productivity. Top advantages are:

  1. Sophisticated devices give employees the tools they need to perform more effectively in their jobs.
  2. Businesses can save money, by eliminating costly equipment purchases and ongoing maintenance.
  3. BYOD can provide productivity increases of up to 30 percent

While the trend won’t work for every business, BYOD is a smart business move for many organizations. Challenges to keep in mind include data security and regulatory compliance. For more information on BYOD/BYOA and tips on how to implement from Comcast Business, check out the Productivity@Work best practices guide for BYOD.
