Combining Social Media with Mobile Marketing by Zachary Weiner

Zachary Weiner

Can you give us your Background and why you are qualified to discuss mobile Marketing and Social Media?

My name is Zachary Weiner (I am the CEO of a full-service interactive firm LuxuryReach Inc www.luxuryreach.com ; twitter: @luxuryreach we are experts at marketing strategy, emerging media marketing and advertising consulting and offer quite a lot of services in these regards. We have been planning campaigns for years and tend to focus on cross-platform integration.  mobile media has been our latest focal point and so we have opened up a full division to address growing demand. Our experience with traditional ad planning, Event marketing and experiential marketing has really given us a leg up on a lot of these new “buzz-word” media/marketing gurus that are popping up who don’t have the foundation of marketing knowledge.

What sorts of clients can best utilize mobile media?

Currently we see a lot of “Big Brands” using a lot of wireless campaigns such as in-app Advertising, mobile ad networks, app creation and other forms of wireless integration, but in reality it’s the small companies, and local retailers who are really going to be able to benefit from the technology. It gives these small sized corporations an enhanced reach and the ability to engage local users in a manner that is more cost efficient then print or television and more geographically engaging than traditional  advertising. Further information can be found in our most recent PR http://www.prweb.com/releases/2010/08/prweb4345374.htm

How can a company merge mobile strategy with social media?

The possibilities here are endless and only limited by one’s own creativity, mobile allows for individuals to be reached anywhere and more importantly geo-graphically targeted. Social media allows these users to share and interact with messages they receive on an organic level. It’s basically what marketers have always dreamed  would occur. We are already putting on campaigns that cross-integrate  microsites with mobile, twitter and facebook and I believe you can cross-integrate about everything.  We have a lot of individuals in the offline marketing industries who have been worried about their own business survival, but it’s not that offline platforms are going to die- they are going to be reborn with greater capabilities because mobile campaigns can breathe new life into older models.

Do you believe it will be expensive for clients to integrate Mobile marketing with social media?

If brands and companies set themselves up the right way, it should be an incredibly cost effective methodology. Many social media campaigns after setup should be free from an “Advertising” standpoint, because one does not need to pay for each facebook update, each twitter update, or submissions to blogs. If a company were to build a Mobile App on a onetime basis they have a fee and then they have some minor fees to deploy and market the app to the public- After that the marketing campaigns can potentially become free. It’s like being able to utilize a television commercial over and over again, but with new creative all the time and at no cost. Once the technology is setup and implemented, it allows companies to utilize both platforms in conjunction with one another at no “Advertising cost” These companies can configure all kinds of differing campaigns using their mobile app while constantly changing their social media interface. Amazing huh?
