Some outstanding educational opportunities are slated for the week of March 11 through March 18 in central Ohio. Follow the links in the article to find out more about the events featured here, as well as a wide variety of others. Experience is a dear teacher, particularly if you are a small business entrepreneur. Your time and money are at stake, so learn what you need to know before making big decisions. Join the Columbus Chamber of Commerce for $750, the basic membership fee, and access “primary services and resources, including Chamber savings plans, workforce and business development programs, events,” and more.

Once you have joined, register for the chamber’s next blockbuster presentation, “Webinar: Build Resilience – Thriving in Changing Times.” This event takes place on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Members join the webinar free of charge.

The presenter, Maureen Metcalf, CEO/Founder, Metcalf & Associates, Inc., will teach you how to move your business forward by enhancing your flexibility and toughness. Take the online test to evaluate your resilience before joining the presentation.

Also on Tuesday, join “Healthy Lifestyle Classes for Real People – Simple, Sustainable Ideas for Creating Your Healthy Life!” and learn how you can make healthy life choices to help eliminate stress, without changing your diet, your exercise regimes, and without being asked to buy anything at this event.

The presenter is well-known author and physician, Dr. Bill Sears. This event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 19 and 26, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Classes are at Oakstone Office Park, 2531 Oakstone Dr. in Columbus. Register online. The cost for individual admission is $120.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) also features a schedule of educational events. Two are taking place in central Ohio this week.

The first, the Wildlife Diversity Conference, is of vital interest to those concerned about resource conservation and management. The conference will provide opportunities to network and get answers to your questions. It starts at 9 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, at the Aladdin Shrine Complex, 3850 Stelzer Rd. in Columbus. Admission is $25, $10 for students.

The second ODNR-listed event this week in central Ohio is the 2013 Ohio Deer & Turkey Expo. Many displays and demonstrations are featured, from archery trick shooting, to exhibits of live predators and game animals. There will also be activities for the public and a seminar on EDH, the devastating deer disease. Door prizes will be awarded in both adult and youth categories.

Visit the event website for hours and more information on this one-of-a-kind event. The Expo takes place March 15 through 17 at the Bricker Building at the Ohio Expo Center (on the Ohio State Fairgrounds), 717 E. 17th Ave., Columbus, OH 43211. See the ticket site for purchase prices.
