Columbus Short will not be back for season 4 of "Scandal." In the midst of Short's own legal problems, ABC has decided to pull the plug on his character Harrison Wright. Huffington Post reported on Saturday that the Columbus Short firing is directly related to the allegations of domestic violence against estranged wife Tanee McCall.

The finale of "Scandal" season 3 left a cliffhanger for character Harrison Barnes. Viewers didn't know if he was alive or dead. It's as if the network wanted to ensure Short's good behavior between seasons, given that the actor already had a history of being bad.

A February arrest stemmed from another domestic violence incident involving McCall. Short allegedly attacked her in front of their children. There was a more recent report of Columbus Short punching an engagement party guest.

The most recent and most shocking accusations against Columbus involve his wife again. She alleges that he held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her. She says he is a jealous man and accuses her of cheating with other men.

Tanee McCall filed a restraining order against Columbus Short on April 7. She has since filed for divorce and is asking for custody of their one child. McCall and Short have been married since 2005.

The most recent allegations against Short must have put the show's creator Shonda Rimes at her breaking point because now she has given Columbus his walking papers. In a statement released by Columbus Short regarding his exit from the show he said:

At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I've called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble in television today. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda [Rimes], Kerry [Washington] and the rest of the cast.

Writing Short out of the script will be easy enough. At the end of season 3, Short's character Harrison Wright was literally staring down the barrel of a gun and viewers were left wondering if he would make it to season 4. Now we know what happened in that scene and rather than waiting for the next season, viewers can wonder how "Scandal" writers will fill his huge shoes, as he was a very popular character on the show.
