Columbus Short not returning for 'Scandal' season 4

Olivia Pope and Associates will be down a gladiator when the fourth season of 'Scandal' kicks off later this year. According to People Magazine, Columbus Short will not be returning to the ABC hit series. Short released a statement through his rep confirming his exit and thanking Shonda Rhimes, Kerry Washington and the rest of the cast for his time on the show.

Although it has not been confirmed by Short or ABC if the split was mutual, TMZ is reporting that the network made the decision due to his recent legal issues. Short's estranged wife Tanee McCall filed for a restraining order after an April 7th incident where he allegedly choked her while accusing her of sleeping with other men.

In February, he was accused of attacking her in front of their children and in March he was arrested for punching a guest at an engagement party. McCall has filed for divorce and is asking for custody of their 2 year old daughter Ayala.

Rhimes was mum about the fate of Short's character Harrison Wright when speaking about the season 3 finale. In the final moments of the finale Harrison was staring down the barrel of a gun as Papa Pope taunted him about being "young, gifted and black." Rhimes and ABC have yet to comment about Short's exit.
