Columbus School of the Supernatural begins its first quarter, today, February 12, at Zion Christian Fellowship in Powell, Ohio. Modeled after the Bethel School of the Supernatural in Redding, California, and designed in conjunction with them, Zion offers a part-time, two-year program offered on Sunday nights utilizing DVD teachings from Bethel’s first year program, along with International speakers including Robby Dawkins (Furious Love, and the the Finger of God, speaking on the first night), Chris Gore, Danny Silk to name a few, and the Zion leadership.
“Our goal is equipping people to become the ‘heart’ and ‘hands’ of Jesus for the purposes of being able to do some of the power ministry that He did,” says Senior Pastor Jim Baker of Zion Christian Fellowship. “The first year of the school is really about increasing your intimacy with the Lord. This will involve: learning how to hear from Him, understanding your identity as a son or daughter of God, and being able to display the raw power of God where it is needed for healing, signs and wonders, miracles, and the prophetic. It’s learning to minister in the gifts, the heart and power of Jesus,” Pastor Jim continues. The first year will consist of four quarters, and it is not necessary to take them sequentially. First year topics include: Spending Your Inheritance, Healing the Sick, Casting out Demons, Hearing God, Prophetic Ministry, and Living a Naturally Supernatural Lifestyle.
Year two focuses on an individual’s particular ministry, and gaining a better understanding of why God places His servants here on Earth. “It’s about discovering, developing and deploying your ministry,” Baker adds. Baker also mentions that the program takes into consideration that many people’s ministries function outside the walls of the church. “It’s going to the government, to the media, to education. It’s about how to equip people to bring the reality of God into those spheres of influence.”
Second year topics include Releasing the Culture of Heaven, Power Evangelism in a Dark World, Advanced Prophetic, and Kingdom Revivalists.
“It’s really going to feel like a laboratory environment, creating a safe place for people to take a risk. You will have the support of fellow students and school facilitators who will encourage you as you practice hearing from God. The more you practice hearing God’s voice in a controlled environment, the easier it will become hearing him when you are in your car, shopping or in your place of business. Our goal is for our students to ask and hear from Him for everyday life events such as business decisions, and helping people in their communities. It’s really the opposite of the NFL. The NFL practices all week to play on Sunday. This school is on Sunday, and you get to play all week,” Baker comments.
Columbus School of the Supernatural will operate as a satellite of the Bethel School of the Supernatural. However, there will be a few differences. The Columbus branch will be a part-time program that will have more of a “hands-on” approach with a lessor academic focus. Academic learning will still be achieved through topical reading and reports, but the schools goals will be a more applicable approach to the topics learned. This will enable individual to grow in their spiritual gifts and ministry without having to alter their life to that of a full-time student. Another advantage the school seeks out is a win-win scenario for the community and the student. Each month students participate in some type of community outreach that allows them to practice what they learned inside the church walls and take it outside the church walls. The students will have hands-on experience of what they learned and the community will benefit from their experiences.
The Columbus School of the Supernatural equips and trains individuals for ministry as well as stretching them spiritually. “I think if someone goes through this, they’ll have greater intimacy with the Lord. They’re going to be able to hear him more clearly; be able to step out and take risks when He calls them to, and they’re going to have a greater sense of who they are in Christ, and who Christ is in them. They’ll demonstrate the raw power of God and have a greater sense of their destiny,” states Baker. He continues to say, the program appeals to those that are hungry for the Lord, not for someone coming to debate theology as to whether God still heals the sick today. It’s ok to have questions, but it won’t work for someone set against belief in the gifts of the Spirit.
The first quarter begins tomorrow at Zion Christian Fellowship, 10405 Sawmill Rd, Powell, Ohio. Classes are held each Sunday at 5:45-9:00 PM. The next quarter enrollment deadline is April 11, 2012. Zion Christian Fellowship functions within a network of churches called Global Legacy with Bethel in Redding, California. Global Legacy, Ohio in Columbus, (GLOCO) of which Zion is a member, consists of approximately 15 churches locally.
Zion staff will facilitate the program through speaking, coaching and mentoring. Opportunities to travel with leadership and Bethel speakers are already in the works according to Pastor Jim. Second year students will serve the church supporting many ministries such missionary outreaches, prayer and prophesy and community outreaches. The school anticipates through this advanced learning, individuals will develop their public speaking, leadership, and passion, to reach out and seek their divine purpose that will reach beyond the scope of their immediate influences. Through these experiences, the church is confident other ministries will be born to help even more individuals and influence the world.
