A woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing a cab driver in the face and head and then stealing his vehicle.
Ms. Shamona McFadden was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, attempted armed robbery and carjacking, Columbia police said Saturday.
The incident happened Wednesday in the 3600 block of Falling Springs Road, police said. But it’s unclear if the woman was a customer.
Investigators said Ms. McFadden allegedly demanded money from the driver, but he refused.
“When he didn’t comply, McFadden is accused of using a sharp object to stab the victim several times on his head and face,” police spokeswoman Ms. Jennifer Timmons said. “McFadden is further accused of stealing the victim’s cab.”
After the suspect left the scene, the victim whose name was not released, ran to a nearby residence and asked someone to call 911.
The man was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. Police later recovered his vehicle but it’s unclear where and when.
Ms. McFadden was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, Ms. Timmons said.
