Since the attacks of 9/11, we have heard many tales of attacks against people who were believed to be of the Muslim faith. In the days after the tragic attacks, many people were angry and took their anger out on people who had nothing to do with the attacks- and who were not even Muslim.
Even years after these attacks, people still make snap judgements based on one's appearances. Sadly, these attacks of pure ignorance continue even today.
Recently, Columbia University professor Dr. Prabhjot Singh was attacked by a group of teenagers in Harlem, who yelled anti-Muslim slurs at him. Singh also provides health care to low income families in the area. Singhis not Muslim, however. He is a Sikh, a religion which originated in India and is not related to the Muslim faith.
Sadly, people still judge others who wear a turban. Hopefully, in the future, people will learn to judge others once they have actually learned who they are before making a judgement.
The actions of a few people, twelve years ago, does not mean that we should judge everyone who looks a certain way.
